I loved the other Microtel we stayed at but this was horrendous. Black mold around the shower and on the bathroom ceiling. Odd smells in hallways, room and wardrobe. Appliances very dated and dirty. Wall unit had actual debris in it. Random clicking and scratching all night. Indifferent staff. Very dated, missing paint throughout the entire building, very unimpressed. Half of our lights worked. Look elsewhere.
Our stay was wonderful, we had a double room which was rather spacious. The rooms were decorated well and included plenty of storage. Staff was friendly as well although the breakfast could have been better. I would definitely stay again.
Can't complain too much for those rates. But the place had noticeably deteriorated in the 4-5 years since my last visit. The staff is fairly friendly, it's just run-down & a bit dingy.
There was also an ongoing incident with guests across the hall- kept being awakened by some kind of alarm & general loudness/commotion (not quite genuine fighting or slamming of doors-but blatant disregard for anyone else, and a loud, frantic pet) which continued through the night until checkout. Called the front desk for them to please check on the situation.
Would avoid any future stays here !
Very nice staff. Well lit parking area. Rooms were clean but smelled a bit of musky type air prior to turning on the ac, likely due to the age of the building itself. For the price being so close to downtown after a major SEC football game, you really get a great deal. We'd stay there again.
For the price you pay, I think this hotel rocks...bed is so comfortable...adjustable climate control available, as well as plastic bag, wood hangers, free breakfast, clean bathrooms.
