My mother suffered 2nd degree burns on her backside for lack of care. I spoke with Vicki Owenby who pretended to care. They admitted fault, lack of staffing, piss poor nurses, etc. They feigned empathy and assured that new policies were put into place, the head nurse spoke with all the nurses, etc. My mother died before she could get a lawyer and they know that no lawyers will take this because there is not enough money to be made off of it. I only asked for 10,000 to be donated to Shriners hospital in my mom's name and $5000 to my niece who provided her care for her wounds AFTER the hospital released her! My mother had trouble breathing the night before she died and did not want to go back to that hospital because of how she was treated everytime she went there. The ER doctors are incompetent. The nurses on the 2nd floor are even more. My mother got better care at the Broadway hospital than she did at an upperend hospital. I have never left a review so negative in my life. But, I am now. Do not do not take your family there. And if you must, be demanding. Keep them on their toes. Question everything, make them answer your questions. Doubt be afraid to speak up. And if you have received bad service or neglet there, sue them! Sue them, sue them, sue them. They will not change till it hurts them in the wallet. Make complaints until every single piss poor employee is fired. And every employee that covers up the wrong doing is fired. And for the record, I have the letter they sent my mother before she died apologizing for the lack of care she got and the letter I received after she died ADMITTING to the lack of caare and new policies in place. This is not a review because someone's feelings got hurt. This was several incidents.
My husband just got out today after going there Monday. The nurses were absolutely wonderful... 2nd floor west... If my husband needed pain meds they had it to him within no longer than about 5 minutes. They brought all his other meds at almost the exact same time each day. They kept him water at all times and brought him snacks when he asked. When we asked for something they brought it within 10 minutes of our asking. They also went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and kept up to date. I have to give 5 stars and
The reviews with 1 star are the truth! My mother had a surgery here and the nursing staff is the most incompetent staff I've ever seen. She even had some personal belongings STOLEN by a nurse! It's been a couple years, but she was either on the 3 or 4 floor, and Rachel (Indian looking woman with midsized black hair) was the rudest nurse I've ever seen. Coming out of surgery her BP was dangerously low to the point that the surgeon's staff were talking to me about the high possibility that she would not make it. After 3 hours, she arrived to her inpatient room where I was waiting. She was very weak, and it was a while before she was talking. After the first few hours of horrific inpatient care, I decided to take as much off of work as I could, I wasn't leaving her alone there, PERIOD. How this place is still standing is beyond me. The only good thing out of any of this, is that the surgeon informed me of an allergy that my mother had that none of us knew about, he discovered it when she received a certain antibiotic, and the Doctor himself acted quickly shoving nurses aside to reverse it. Don't go to this joke of a hospital if you can avoid it. UT is better, even if you're dealing with students and 16 hour wait times.
I spent several hours at Tennova this evening. I went in because I was having shortness of breath. I was seen very quickly. ALL of the nurses were caring and compassionate. LARRY went above and beyond to calm me and help me to feel better. He was a sincerely nice person and had a great sense of humor. KATHRYN (I hope I got her name right) was awesome too. She found my veins with an ease that many haven't been able to. She was also super nice and caring. I have never had a bad experience at Tennova. And I appreciate how the staff goes out of their way to comfort and help their patients.
My sister died last week in the ICU unit at Turkey Creek. We had to beg to see a doctor the night before she died and one said they were too busy to tell us what was happening. She had almost two years of chemo with Dr March and he never told the family what was going on. Her ovarian cancer was metastatic and they were never told. The doctor only kept changing chemo drugs. She suffered with fluid and vomiting for three months and nothing was ever done other than getting fluid off which would be liters full. Her oncologist did not even attend the consult the day before she died, much less come to see her in ICU. I am so angry with the care she received from the oncologist and the total lack of communication our family received. She was in Tennova Physicans Hospital rehab from a fall four weeks before returning home and then going to Turkey Creek four days later and dying two days after being admitted. The doctors only treated symptoms for those weeks in rehab knowing she needed more care. Angry does not even adequately express my feelings as her sister. She did not deserve being treated this way.
