When I asked why, he cited that I (and I quote) "might steal something from the car unsupervised." Umm.. okay, fine, send me out with a rep. "No, we're understaffed, and we might miss a call from someone who *actually* wants to buy." There were at least 3 employees that I could see and not a single other customer or call during my stay there. He said that when my mother was ready to buy, she'll be able to sit in the car then. I told him it's absurd to expect someone to buy a car they've never been in, and he claimed that it was their policy. Instead, he said "Have you visited our facility in Chattanooga?"
Let me preface by saying I came in on behalf of my mother, who is not well-versed in cars, but looking for a new one. On my recommendation, she visited Clayton Volvo and came back telling me the car she wanted me to check out before she committed to it (pre-owned XC-90). I made this situation very clear with the Volvo representative from the start. I would not be buying directly, but I may as well. He had even been the one to interact with my mother just days prior.
Why would I drive two hours to be blown off when I can do it from the comfort of my own town? For the sake of brevity, I've excluded the details where he derided everything he could possibly presume about me, including my education, employment status, driving ability, and he even managed to shoehorn some of his political opinions. It was incredibly unprofessional, and I have never experienced such a level of blatant disrespect from any establishment. Coming from an almost guaranteed sale, I will make sure never to step foot in there again, and regale this story to anyone considering otherwise. I was insulted and strung along for the better part of an hour when I made it very clear at the beginning why I was there.
Bought my car here. No games or gimmicks just good service
"No."
The best car buying experience! After months of frustrating car shopping, working with Robbi Denton was a breath of fresh air. She was very helpful and made buying my s60 a wonderful, pressure free experience. I am extremely happy with my Volvo and the experience I had with Clayton Volvo. I highly recommend checking them out if you haven't already.
After test driving a dozen different vehicles at various dealerships around Knoxville, I had pretty much given up finding what I was looking for. I dreaded the thought of enduring another high-pressure, gimmicky sales experience. Then, I pulled onto the lot at Clayton Volvo where I met Robbi Denton. Unlike others, she took the time to just have a conversation about what I liked about my current vehicle and why I was looking for a new one. She was very knowledgeable and patient and I am thrilled with my new-to-me Jeep Grand Cherokee. Thank you Robbi!
I have never written a poor review about anything before, but I feel compelled to just from the sheer absurdity of my experience here. Apologies, it is a long tale, but I feel the details convey the ridiculousness.
Want to say thank you to David Burns and Justin Dutcher at Clayton Volvo! David is so knowledgeable about the brand and was super patient with my wavering commitment to buy. Once I made up my mind, Justin was great, he was so respectful and really took time to understand my situation and fears about car-buying. My experience at Clayton Volvo has continued to be good as I am currently working through a few "used car" issues that surfaced immediately after purchase. Justin and Layla (who is also super knowledgeable and open about the brand) are both working hard on my behalf and have been really understanding. With only a few days under my belt, I am loving my "new to me" Volvo XC90 and really appreciate all the folks at Clayton who have shown me such good customer service!
After taking my info (presumably to tie me to whatever notes they had on my mother) and spending an agonizing time telling me nothing other than that the car was in their inventory, he shook my hand and said "have a nice day." I thought it was a joke. I hadn't even seen the car I came to learn about or had any questions answered. He pointed it out in the lot and that I was free to look. After a thorough look at the exterior, there was nothing I couldn't have learned on the internet, so I asked to check out the interior.
