And the reviewer Nathan Guy that rated BKA 5 stars and gave such a stellar review ... is the Operations Manager at BKA. Apparently their own employees have to give them a high rating because their clients won't.
This is the worst company I have ever dealt with and am now just redoing everything this company has done.
Best restoration company ever!!! Way better than any servpro or servicemaster. Nice to have a large restoration company like this in Knoxville, and not a small mom and pop operation like the competitors.
UPDATE: Changing my 1 star rating to 3 stars. Shortly after my poor review I arrived home to find 2 guys from BKA who carried themselves professionally had caulked the trouble spots around my chimney.
Our septic tank backed up in our first home we purchased. Our insurance company recommended BKA. The clean up crew was great and so was the estimator who sketched everything. Today marked 4 months and the job is still not 100% complete. They subcontract everything out which is awful. I wish I could upload pictures of the horrible Sheetrock work and trim work done around my doors. The laminate flooring started coming up within 1 day after they laid it. That took two weeks for them to come back out and fix. The sheet rock mud is already falling out. The sheet rock guy did not remove the commode to finish behind it and took nothing off the walls like our a/c vent and there is still sheet rock mud all over it. The corner bead on the sheet rock was never molded into the existing one and sticks out 1/4in and I told my "wonderful" contractor numerous times about it and nothing gets done. They never hung up the mirror in the laundry room nor did anybody clean up after themselves. I've had to haul off the old doors, sink, vanity, sheet rock scraps, you name it I've hauled it off. My wife and I had to clean over and over again to get all the dust and dirt out of our house. I called my contractor on 12/9/15 and told him my house needs to be finished today on Saturday 12/12/15 and the only things that are needed is to redo the door trim and lower the door where it hits the a/c vent on the Ceiling. Well my contractor never told the crew about the ceiling so that is still not fixed. He assured me his boss Nathan Guy ( who rated his own company good, ha!) would be in touch with me. I had called Nathan Guy on 12/9 wanting to talk to him. He returned my phone call which I was not able to answer and left a message. I've called him 4 times a days since and no answer. My contractor would not give me anyone else's name or number but said someone will be in touch with me on Monday.
4) Poor work guaranty- As part of my home purchase I had the seller replace leaky roof. BKA did it but after it started leaking again in 6 months they said "upper management" decided the work guarantee was not transferable. They would not stand behind their work.
Devastating Construction experience. No professional construction management, it was the worst construction experience of our lives and we have built new custom, additions, and remodels. No quality control during anytime during the course of construction. You never knew when they would show up and what they would do. Absolutely the worst sub contractors!. We went through 4 painters during the process and finally fired BKA and became our own GC to finish the project. They are owned by a national company out of Chicago so be careful. Total lack of respect for ones home, no credibility and shouldn't be trusted. You simply wouldn't believe how bad BKA really was.. The one review by Nathan Guy represented in the reviews for BKA is a total joke and represents their dishonesty. He is/was a supervisor for BKA and prior to that employed by Service Master. You talk about unethical, facts speak for themselves and they shouldn't even be allowed to be in business in Knoxville.
2) Unreliable- 15 min after the time they were scheduled to inspect my roof I called to see if they were running late. They said they forgot about me & would reschedule the following week. I wasted a day.
Our home was hit by a tornado and our insurance company recommended BKA so I gave them a call. The walk through went well, I felt I could trust them with our home and the repairs. Biggest mistake ever. We were not living in the home while the repairs took place. The subcontractors didn't use plastic or paper they trudged all over our brand new carpet in dirty work boots. Our house was so dirty my husband spent hours scraping grout from our hard wood floors in our living room after they designated that their work place. They smoked in our home leaving ashes in 2 out of 3 bathroom sinks. They dented a brand new refrigerator in 3 places. They vandalized window sills by driving in nails and chipping the wood and using a tool to gauge out wood in another. They went into our basement where they had no right to go and stole buckets. Every job they did for us has to be redone because of the bad workmanship. The guest bathroom is a mess. Whoever put up the drywall did a terrible job. The walls are rough and have huge chunks gouged out. And if all this wasn't bad enough their office person Samantha Knowles treated me with nothing but contempt and disdain because I refused to sign papers so they could get money. We ended up firing them on Nov 5th. They didn't bother contacting us again until Nov 25th when they tried to get payment from our mortgage company and was refused. They haven't completed one thing on our home. Not one job is 100% complete. Reviews should let you upload pictures so people can see the terrible job they did.
1) Poor communication- did not return calls, said they would have some one call me back, after 2 days I had to call them repeatedly.
If you want your house to retain its value DO NOT USE BKA!!
3) Poor workmanship- a roof that they replaced started leaking in 6 months
